WALKING - ST NICHOLAS DES EAUX

At the first glimmer of morning light, whilst the village is still asleep, we slip on our clothes and shoes and set off towards this beautiful steeply enclosed valley which has captivated us.
We pass along the river banks, our senses drinking in the sweet scents and sights all around us.
As we near the river bend we are startled by the rustling of leaves in the stillness of the morning, but it is only a roe deer enjoying the last moments of dawn...
The morning dew shimmers on the mushrooms we have gathered for breakfast.
We have walked some 2 kilometres, and La Chapelle St Gildas nestling under the rocks has never looked more beautiful, illuminated as she is by the first rays of the sun.
Goldfinches, bullfinches and blue-tits charm us with their gentle songs - we are going to continue our ramble for a little while longer...
